We left the Olympic Park in East London and made our way to central London. We wanted to see how close we could get to watching the finish of the men's road race. The road race, a 250 km (155 mile) event, starts and ends on The Mall - the beautiful tree-lined boulevard that leads from Admiralty Arch to Buckingham Palace where you are greeted by a refreshed Queen Victoria.
Passed others looking for the perfect spot to watch their countrymen. Some had better vantage points than others!
We walked down Constitution Hill and spotted Wellington Arch! What a great place to watch the race!
The view from Wellington Arch towards Hyde Park while waiting for the race to come our way.
What a fabulous view we had of the approach of the riders...
... and of the sprint to the finish! This was thrilling! And in a moment - it was over!
And off to Hyde Park to watch the live screens and people!!
What a great day! London - you really know how to throw a party for the world!!!
Perfect place to catch the race!!
