Autumn Hike in Richmond Park

The temperature has dropped and coats and scarves are norm now.  Autumn is here (apparently only Americans call it 'fall' - my daughter calls it 'drop' but that is another story) and the warmth of summer is a fading memory.

This weekend, although cold, was dry and a great opportunity to hike from our house in Wimbledon Village, through Wimbledon Common and Richmond Park to Teddington.

At 2500 acres, Richmond Park is the largest of the Royal Parks.

This has been a royal hunting ground since the 1200's.

Henry VIII hunted in this park in the 1500's.

In 1625 King Charles I brought his family to the nearby palace to escape the plaque that was gripping London.

The plaque is a distant memory but the park remains a jewel in London.

Deer and other wildlife are abundant.

But it still remains a respite from city life.

On the way to the train station in Teddington.

Another happy hiker!!

  1. Some of the most beautiful "fall" shots of the London area that I've seen. Just gorgeous....

  2. Gorgeous scenery! I can't believe all the deer! I'm putting this on my list of "things to do when the sun peeks out".
