More specifically:
Situated at 4200 feet, Wengen is a small car-free village that sits in the side of a mountain. Deep valleys surround these majestic mountains - carved by glaciers of long, long ago.
This is the view from our hotel room in Wengen of the Jungfrau.
After a wonderful breakfast we caught one of these
up to
Where hiking choices included
We saw and heard lots of these
And these beautiful mountain lakes
The next day we took one of these
Up 10,000 feet to
Which was the finish line of a half marathon
After seeing some James Bond memorabilia (the opening scene of Her Majesty's Secret Service was filmed there) we made our way down the mountain.
We ate at a sweet outdoor beer garden with a view of the valley and mountains. We were served by 2 young men from Yorkshire, England trying to practice their German!
We hiked down and saw wonderful things!
And all too soon it was time to bid adieu. We took a cog railway down the mountain
And not one of these!
Where we soon transferred to an express train to take us back to Zurich.
With fond memories of perfection - even in their woodpiles!
But my favorite still remains
Go see it for yourself!!!
Nancy, that was just marvelous. I can almost feel the cool air and hear the cowbells.
